Essential Gear for My Daily Adventures: My Must-Have EDC
Written on
My Daily Essentials
In the past half-year, I've spent more time traveling than at home, primarily for work but also for occasional family trips. Regardless of the reason for my travels, there are certain indispensable items I take with me whenever I step out the door. Some are necessary for quick errands, while others form a compact workstation that I rely on during extended work trips, which often last a week or two. Here’s a glimpse into my essential everyday carry (EDC).
My Trusty iPhone
This year, I upgraded from my iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 14 Pro. Although I enjoyed the 12 Pro Max, its size became cumbersome, prompting my switch. The 14 Pro fits comfortably in my front pocket, alleviating concerns about it slipping out when I sat down. The Dynamic Island feature was intriguing initially but soon became less noticeable; I hope for more functionality in iOS 17. My iPhone 14 Pro is truly the backbone of my daily operations.
Moft Wallet and Stand Combo
I opted for the Moft Snap-On MagSafe Wallet and Stand to avoid the bulk of a traditional wallet. It holds up to three cards, which meant I had to be selective about what I carried—my work credit card, a personal credit card, and my driver’s license. The stand feature is particularly useful during work, allowing me to monitor notifications and keep track of time. I was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the magnet; it rarely slips off.
A Token of Wisdom
I carry a Marcus Aurelius coin from The Daily Stoic everywhere I go. Featuring an image of the philosopher on one side and a motivational quote from "Meditations" on the other—"Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be… Be One"—it serves as a daily reminder during challenging moments.
AirPods Pro: My Travel Companion
The AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) are an essential part of my daily routine. Their compact size makes them perfect for travel, and the noise-canceling feature works remarkably well. They sync effortlessly with all my Apple devices and even my work-issued Lenovo laptop for Teams meetings.
MacBook Air M1: My Portable Powerhouse
Given my frequent travels, a powerful yet lightweight laptop is crucial. I previously relied on an iPad, but that changed with the acquisition of my MacBook Air M1. This laptop handles all tasks I throw at it with ease and boasts an impressive display. With a stylish skin from Fishskyn, it also looks fantastic.
Apple Watch Series 7: My Timekeeper
My Apple Watch Series 7 is arguably my most utilized item after my iPhone. It helps me manage my fitness and stay updated on my schedule without constantly pulling out my phone. Although I’m a dedicated Apple enthusiast, I’ve occasionally been tempted by the Google Pixel 7 Pro. However, the functionality of the Apple Watch keeps me firmly in the Apple ecosystem.
Conclusion
These are the essential items that accompany me whenever I step outside. My EDC setup is reliable, no matter how many miles I travel each year. I hope you discover some inspiration to enhance your own everyday carry! If you've made it this far, thank you for reading! I would love to hear about your EDC items in the comments below.
