Chapter 1: A New Beginning
Reflecting on my journey, I recall standing on a scale three years ago, shocked to see my heaviest weight. That moment marked a pivotal change in my life. Back then, I could barely run 3 kilometers, but now I proudly celebrate completing two half-marathons.
As I excitedly mapped out my running schedule for 2024, I took time to review my 2023 activities and results.

In April 2023, I committed to regular running, ultimately completing 91 sessions throughout the year. My average pace has been approximately 6'59" per kilometer, covering an average distance of 4.5 kilometers per run. This achievement stands as my highest annual running record.
Despite a slump in my training between July and September due to Singapore's rainy season, I still managed to maintain a consistent routine of 2 to 3 runs weekly.
Section 1.1: Why I Chose to Run
The decision to start running stemmed from my recognition of an unhealthy lifestyle. With a poor diet and minimal exercise contributing to my weight, I knew I needed to make changes. I began by adopting a healthier diet, cutting down on sugar and greasy foods.
Running felt like the ideal exercise to pursue long-term. I fondly remember my secondary school days, participating in 10-km community runs and school events, which made running a natural choice for me.

Section 1.2: Embracing the Journey
I'm thrilled to see how my health has improved through running. I find myself falling sick less frequently, and while I haven't yet reached my target weight, I'm steadily making progress.
Chapter 2: Lessons Learned from Running
Setting Goals: Establishing clear objectives is crucial for achieving success, be it in personal aspirations or professional endeavors. A well-defined goal coupled with a solid plan keeps motivation alive.
Consistency: Training for a marathon is a gradual journey, requiring time to build strength and endurance. This process demands months, if not years, of dedicated effort.
Determination: The initial stages are often the hardest, filled with fatigue and mental barriers. It's vital to remain committed and persevere through these challenges.
Getting Support: While marathon training can feel solitary, it doesn't have to be. Seek out training partners or supportive friends and family who can encourage you along the way.
In conclusion, the pursuit of running is both a demanding and fulfilling experience. Start small and progressively build your endurance. If you're considering beginning an exercise routine, I hope my journey serves as motivation.
Are you a runner? Have you participated in a marathon before? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
