In our pursuit of goals, whether related to fitness, work, or personal life, we sometimes overlook the consequences of our actions.

Section 1.1: My Passion for Weightlifting

As someone who is passionate about weightlifting, I’ve always struggled to gain weight. Eating six meals a day—often recommended for adequate macronutrient intake—isn’t something I enjoy. Yet, to continue building muscle, I needed to increase my protein and calorie consumption. Without this, my progress would stall. Ironically, muscle is more often built in the kitchen than in the gym.

To meet my nutritional needs, I decided to add raw eggs to my protein shakes.

Unfortunately, this decision led to an unexpected outcome. After about two weeks of feeling unwell, I came to the realization that the source of my discomfort was most likely the six raw eggs I consumed daily, rather than other potential illnesses.

If I had taken the time to listen to my body’s signals instead of focusing solely on my goals, I might have recognized the need for dietary changes sooner. There were moments when I felt uneasy after drinking my shake, yet I persisted. Eventually, my body forced me to halt my consumption altogether.

Don’t judge my decision to eat six raw eggs a day; I wasn’t trying to emulate anyone. I simply aimed to add an extra 36 grams of protein to my shakes.

Symptoms & Reactions

Moving forward, raw eggs are off the menu for me. Here’s a summary of my experiences during that period:

  • Intense brain fog
  • Anxiety
  • Severe stomach cramping and pain
  • Muscle discomfort
  • Exhaustion

Learn from my experience and be discerning about what you consume. This applies to alcohol, drugs, fast food, processed items, and sugar. Some foods should be entirely avoided, while others are best enjoyed in moderation.
