# Finding Meaning in Life When You Feel Disconnected

Chapter 1: Understanding the Struggle
Addressing the question of life's purpose can be quite challenging and personally resonates with me. I’ve navigated this topic not just with clients but also in my own life.
I should clarify that I only engage with cases that do not involve organic brain injuries or severe personality disorders.
Section 1.1: Confronting Suicidal Thoughts
Suicidal ideation is often a silent battle. Many individuals grapple with these thoughts alone, whether at home, in their cars, in public spaces, or even while appearing cheerful in family photographs. The pain can be incredibly difficult to articulate, and responding to the question of "Why?" can feel overwhelming.
Often, the most common underlying reason can be summed up in two words: fatigue. Individuals feel exhausted by pain, circumstances, worries, and the weight of existence itself.
This state of mind usually brings forth questions such as: "What is the purpose of my life? Why must I endure? Why am I even here?" Some find solace in religious beliefs or spiritual practices, while others struggle to find answers.
As a poignant line from a song goes:
“... Where everyone prays to their own invented gods,
And you would be glad, but you came up with nonsense and didn't believe it.” (Konstantin Arbenin — Carmen Horrendum)
Personally, I discovered my way out of this state by addressing the root cause—fatigue.
Section 1.2: Questions for Reflection
To begin your journey toward understanding, consider asking yourself the following:
✔️ What specifically am I tired of?
Grab a piece of paper and a pen, then jot down the exact aspects of life that wear you out.
✔️ What do I wish for instead?
If you find it hard to answer, start by listing what you definitely don’t want.
✔️ What changes are necessary for me to live the way I desire?
It's common to feel powerless, thinking that nothing can be done. However, if you’ve contemplated ending your life, perhaps it’s worth reflecting on your situation once more.
Is the fear of disappointing someone or the apprehension of risking a job more potent than the fear of death itself? If you find yourself stuck, seeking support can be a valuable step.
Chapter 2: The Quest for Life's Meaning
The question of life's purpose may not be the right inquiry; instead, it can be viewed as a choice. There is no divine script determining who is born, why, or when. You possess the opportunity to exist in this world, with all its complexities and opportunities, and you have the autonomy to choose how to fill your life.
In the first video titled "What's The Point In Living If You Aren't Living Your Dreams?", the speaker discusses how to pursue your dreams despite feelings of despair. It encourages viewers to reflect on their aspirations and take actionable steps toward fulfillment.
The second video, "What's the Point of Living if You Don't Feel Truly Alive?!?", dives into the importance of feeling alive and present in the moment, urging viewers to explore their inner desires and motivations.
By engaging with these resources and reflecting on your own thoughts, you can begin to uncover the meaning and purpose that resonate with you.
