Exploring the Dimensions of Our Senses in Energy Work

Chapter 1: Awakening the Senses
From the moment we enter the world, we often possess an innate primary sense. For me, that sense was visual, likely influenced by my parents, both of whom had a strong artistic inclination. Aesthetic appreciation was a significant aspect of my upbringing; even our actions were described as either “beautiful” or “ugly.”
In my journey through shamanic training, I learned to create a mesa—a sacred personal altar adorned with various symbolic stones. As I collaborated with fellow trainees and selected stones from their mesas, my choices were predominantly guided by visual appeal.
However, as we began to track energy, I quickly realized that I could not solely rely on my visual sense, whether physical or psychic. This prompted me to enhance my kinaesthetic abilities. Being right-handed, I initially used my dominant hand, but I found that it yielded no significant information. Consequently, I experimented with my left hand, moving it over the energy fields of my peers to perceive blockages. This sensation was not emotional but rather a tangible energetic experience!
I understood that to fully trust this new method of receiving information, I needed to let go of my visual safety net. I began to select stones with my eyes closed and practiced energy tracking solely through the sensations in my left hand. This intriguing experiment led me to identify more as a kinaesthetic person rather than a visual one. I started to focus on the energetic feelings rather than surface appearances.
As I continued to work with clients in later years, I decided to revisit this experiment to explore the depths of my senses. I temporarily muted my kinaesthetic and visual inclinations, waiting patiently for auditory responses from spirit. This process tested my patience, as I awaited the clarity I sought. But eventually, spirit responded, and I began receiving information in entirely new ways—an exhilarating development!
Chapter 2: Embracing New Modalities
Not only was I acquiring a new skill set, but I was also deepening my intuition and learning to trust Source Energy. I dedicated months to honing my auditory abilities, while I chose to forgo the olfactory sense. Although I could detect illness or toxicity through smell, I opted not to rely on it, as I’ve always been sensitive to strong odors.
Instead, I concentrated on cultivating my "sixth sense"—the intuitive knowing. This time, I consciously muted all other senses when working with clients, relying solely on the clarity of knowing that flowed through me from Source energy. It was an amusing experience; while I worked with clients, I would have a clear understanding of what I was perceiving without needing to ask for further details. Yet, whenever I attempted to seek confirmation, I would hear an internal voice prompt me, “WHY ARE YOU CHECKING WHEN YOU KNOW?!” This would catch me off guard and often lead to a chuckle at my own expense.
As I practiced focusing on one sense at a time, I did so for extended periods, allowing myself to become comfortable with each approach. Now, I predominantly operate from a kinaesthetic perspective while still receiving auditory insights and trusting my intuitive hits. The most profound realization has been understanding that I am in constant communion with God—not a distant figure, but the pure essence of love and light. Source communicates with me in diverse ways, enriching my interactions with clients.
In energy work, we integrate intellect and knowledge—essential senses in their own right—while intentionally connecting to Source Energy. I felt compelled to develop each sense individually to ensure I wouldn’t miss valuable information. Perhaps you might consider trying this approach yourself?
You can enhance your visual skills using cards to interpret the meanings behind the images. To expand your kinaesthetic sense, practice feeling the subtle energies within your own auric field, paying attention to temperature shifts or areas that feel “soft” or “spiky.” The more you engage with your senses and step outside your comfort zone, the more adept you’ll become at harnessing all your sensory abilities.
